Sunday's Obituary - Arthur Sokofski

SOKOFSKI Arthur Sokofski, 90, of Bridgeport died Friday, November 4 at Bridgeport Hospital. Born March 19, 1921 in Scranton, PA. Arthur and his wife Ruth moved to Bridgeport in 1942. On November 22 they would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. During WWII Arthur served in the Navy's 33rd Construction Battalion (Seebees) in the Pacific Theater. Upon discharge he worked at Acme Shear of Bridgeport and Ductile Iron Foundry of Stratford where he was General Manager upon his retirement. He was a long-time member of Zion Lutheran Church, Bridgeport where he served in several capacities including President of Church Council for many years. Golfing and watching the Yankees were favorite activities. He is survived by his loving wife Ruth and daughter Carol; two brothers, Irvin Sack and his wife Vera of CA and Walter Sack and his wife Rita of PA, and two sisters, Irene Minella of PA and Bertha Bell and her husband Donald of NJ as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Adolf Sack, Jr, Julius Sack, Rudolph Sack and Nelson Sakowski, and two sisters Mildred Boyer and Lavina Malecky. Friends are invited to attend his Funeral on Monday at 9:00a.m. (directly) at the Zion Lutheran Church, Bridgeport. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Scranton, PA. Friends may call at the LARSON FUNERAL HOME, 2496 NORTH AVE, BRIDGEPORT on SUNDAY from 2 to 5 p.m.. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 612 Grand St. Bridgeport, CT 06604
